Introdução

Pedra, madeira, osso e pêlo foram os primeiros materiais básicos usados pelo homem, para fazer armas e ferramentas, por exemplo. Estes materiais deram nomes a “idades” da história da humanidade quando descobertos, como o cobre, bronze e ferro. Materiais básicos ainda possuem um papel fundamental em quase todas as áreas da tecnologia hoje em dia.
