Calendário Chinês

O calendário chinês é uma combinação dos calendários solares e lunares, e cada ano segue a ordem do horóscopo chinês em um ciclo de doze anos.

Apesar de lendas afirmarem que o calendário teria sido inventado pelo Imperador Shi em 2637 a.C., evidências demonstram que os calendários foram usados mais tarde na China, durante a Dinastia Shang. Eles consistiam em um ciclo anual de doze meses, e alguns deles apresentavam um décimo-terceiro e até um décimo-quarto mês! O calendário em sua forma atual foi introduzido pelo Imperador Wu da Dinastia Han Ocidental.

O calendário chinês é usado principalmente para datar eventos importantes como feriados – o Ano Novo Chinês ou o Festival do Meio-Outono – e também para adivinhação. O Calendário Gregoriano foi oficialmente adotado pela China em 1912 para questões civis e administrativas, apesar do calendário chinês ainda ser amplamente utilizado.
